This new song is called, “Seen.” Like I said before, it's a different beast. Different tone. Different sound. Different content. "I'm Still Here" was the introduction. "Throwback Love" was my romantic side. "Seen" explores more substance and depth. It is not in any way an attack towards cops and it isn't a claim for black vs. white, it just acknowledges the sad state of our country in regard to social injustice. It looks through the eyes of those that were lost. "What have you seen, child? What have you seen?”

Throughout the lyrics, I acknowledge different cases and situations, such as the Eric Garner case and the Trayvon Martin case. I explore the sadness in the loss of life, so young, so undeserving. Although the song has a more upbeat tempo, the lyrics couldn’t be more intentional. Just in time for Black History Month.

//verse 1
Smoke and the scream
Cloud up my lungs
Say I can't breathe
Oh tell me what I have done

Problems of old
God, I'm still young
Take these chains off
So maybe my soul can run

What have you seen, child?
What have you seen?
To see a nightmare
Before the dream
what have you seen, child?
What have you seen?

I saw lives lost in the Land of the Free
I saw blood shed in the land of the free.

//verse 2
While you walk free
I'm fast asleep
Heart full of lead
But still your hands are clean

God, I'm still young
Don't take this from me
I know only pain
And with it is tragedy

I'd rather sleep
Stay away from my reality
I'd rather sleep
No use in staying up
if my whole worlds upside down
Turn the tables back around
I don't wanna wake
another day
In the same old state
like we hit replay oh No
If we all think we're right
Then what would be left?
If an eye equals an eye
Then what would be next
Oh, I'd rather sleep
Then see
My world fall
Around me
